STORY ANNOUNCEMENT - 'Henry V' slash

HEARTS'-EASE
~ a mediaeval romance ~

A 41,000 word Henry/Montjoy slash novel based on Kenneth Branagh's 1989 film version of Henry V.

Perhaps, in another existence, he might not have found the courage to do so, but Montjoy the herald was human; he was a man of flesh and blood, of gentle nature and compassionate heart, and when he met suffering it was his instinct to want to offer comfort. What he saw before him was not a king, not an enemy, but a man in pain, and his soul was in such turmoil over this particular man that he could not bring himself to hold back even for a moment.

And here is my reaction at long last

So I finally sat down to read this. Yesterday my reaction when reading the first two chapters was this:

kdlfjlarjiwmdsdl;s!!!111modwo2341!!!:D

then my reaction when reading the last two was this:

aawwwww!

But more sensibly...my what a fabulous piece of work. I really thoroughly enjoyed it, in so many ways. I loved it's tenderness, the characterisation, the way the relationship developed, the use of minor characters...all round a fantastic fic. I adored that first embrace on the battlefield, and then the island scenes...could barley contain my grin as 'blossoming-love-in-isolated-locations' is one of my favourite fictional tropes, as is 'hurt-comfort,' so coupling them together...*thud*. And then when they finally realised their love...wonderful. Very intrigued now by the concept of brotherment - going to have to seek out the book you used to learn more.

Did I mention how much I enjoyed this fic?
