 Title: Faux Guilt
Fandom: Charlie Bartlett
Pairing: Gardner/Charlie
Disclaimer: Dude. I steeel. Except for the part where I remind everyone that I do not own this film, franchise, or the actors in it. Except for Robert Downey Jr. Yummy.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: H/J, H/C(? I'm not sure about this, but just to be safe. I mean, Nathan did kinda inadvertently push Charlie into the pool.)
Summary: It's wrong. It's wrong. They both know it. When has knowing better ever stopped either of them?
Author's Notes: I wrote this like....two days after the second time I watched the movie. I loved it, but of course it's that new generation of movies that keep me going. When they don't suck that is. Anyway. Charlie Bartlett was a bit of amazing and I figured that since a few other people have done it (and by 'few' I mean the ONE I found who wrote something off the same scene I did) I figured I'd go a head and post mine somewhere. So enjoy!

Once they were dressed and dried off, Nathan Gardner reached for the seventeen year old again to check the back of his head. "It probably just looked worse than it was. Did you take the Advil I gave you in the bathroom?" He could still taste the liquor in his mouth, but his head had cleared enough from seeing the poor kid go nearly through the diving board and to the bottom of the pool. Sobering experience. It wasn't his first.

Charlie nodded and then held still so that Nathan could check over his head once again for anything they missed, hissing when nimble fingers came into contact with sore skin. The man was satisfied that there wasn't any exterior damage and pulled all but his left hand away. Reaching forward with his right hand, Nathan tilted the young head back so he could look into Charlie's blue-green eyes for any sign of interior damage.

"You look alright." Nathan finally mumbled after a few moments, his left hand slipping from Charlie's head to the back of his neck, squeezing it gently. There was a look that passed from the older man to the younger, a type of understanding that had always been there but never acknowledged. Nathan respected what Charlie had done the other night. The kid tried to tell his friends what he's said upstairs-albeit more eloquently-and the loss of Nathan's job couldn't be held on his too-young shoulders. The former Principal twisted this thought in his mind as they held eye contact, physical contact, allowing himself a small smile.

It was then that something interesting happened.

Charlie tilted his head back just slightly, parted his lips, and came close enough to brush them to Nathan's. It couldn't be mistaken, and couldn't be explained away as an accident. When he got no resistance-and no response-Charlie pushed again, harder this time. His eyes were open books to Nathan, who saw all the confusion and affection and muddled feelings that ran rampant in poor Charlie Bartlett's head.

Charlie was just as screwed up and needy as the kids he'd been counseling, and if Nathan kissed back then he'd be messing the kid up even further. However, after being denied human contact for so long and after seeing the younger man almost die trying to-he thought-save him, Nathan felt that he needed it just as bad as Charlie. His right hand wrapped around the slim waist and his left tightened its grip as he made his decision.

Charlie's hands were clutching at the long sleeved grey shirt like his life depended on the mouth that was attached to his. Nathan could feel the young body trembling like it had when he was soaked earlier; desperate. The kiss deepened and they pressed closer together until Nathan had walked his former pupil against the wall. Charlie opened his mouth and Nathan took the opportunity, claiming the mouth that moved almost inexpertly against his own like he'd always been there.

There was no mistaking the arousal between the two men, the heat that grew and spread from the pit of their guts to their entire bodies. It was almost burning when Nathan shifted and put a leg between Charlie's rubbing to tantalizingly against the young body that he had all but attacked.

Their minds were both blissfully blank, devoid of everything that was wrong with this particular situation they were caught in. Nathan kept rubbing and Charlie started grinding, whimpering in the back of his throat as his entire state turned into something blazing. There was nothing in his life but this man who pinned him to the wall, who was owning him so completely.

Charlie jerked, ground his hips forward and held there. The sweat pants Nathan gave him grew damp with his release and he stared forward, panting. The older man pulled back and let the breathless kid collect himself, trying to calm down. After he was sure Charlie wasn't going to fall, Nathan stepped back, looking decidedly ashamed and embarassed. His obvious erection was slowly fading as he thought of his daughter and Charlie's age and everything that should have stopped him in the first place.

"Too far. That went way too far." Nathan tried to ignore the hurt in Charlie's eyes as he grabbed another pair of sweat pants and tossed them over. With one last look at the bewildered, heartbroken kid, Nathan left the room to let Charlie get ready.

Sitting in his car as he waited, the former educator beat his head against the wheel. It was the dumbest mistake he'd made in his life, and yet he was having trouble finding a genuine shred of remorse for it in his quickly beating heart.

Ok, I've never actually seen that movie, but was like RDJ, looks interesting. Now I *have* to see that movie, because that was awesome. You should write more. *big puppy eyes*

Here from your totally awesomely shameless self-pimpage. :D (Don't worry -- I suck at it, too.)

Anywho. Loved this. ♥ I really like the idea of Charlie just going for it. He's so precocious that I really don't think things like gender, age, "morality" or whatever are going to get in his way if he wants to figure something out. And you played Gardner with just the right amount of desperation -- enough that he'd act and then realize it was a mistake. I really loved his line -- "Too far. That went way too far." -- because I could practically hear and see RDJ saying it. Very nice. ♥

GAAAH, I loved it. I agree with Molly that that line was awesome. Gardner's(I really want to say Iron Man instead of Principal Gardner, xD) response was perfect, I think. Thank you for the great fanfic~

This was total love! I've been wanting to slash the two ever since I saw the movie, especially after the end. I think it came off very in character, as far as with slashing them. I wouldn't mind another one to go with this...(winks).
