BE A WOLF

As he rocked back and forth on the chair Clarence watched Joe sleep. The older man was snoring softly, his sheets tangled around his legs. It was a funny position to sleep in, like a little boy.

The clock beside him seemed to be ticking in time with the guilty beating of his heart. Letting Joe sleep late on purpose to keep him from Lola, to keep him with Clarence, was a dangerous trick to play. He had already coaxed and cajoled Joe into helping him with Aunt Susie (who he was pretty sure was just a pipe dream anyway) and that silly little kid who had already developed an obsession for the over-confident sailor, just like Clarence.

Except Clarence’s obsession wasn’t just childish admiration. Ever since Joe’s strong arms had closed around his scrawny chest and pulled him to safety Clarence had been caught- hook, line and sinker.

Joe was good-looking, Joe was cocky. Joe walked with a confident swagger and dazzled everyone he met with a billion dollar smile. Before Joe had saved his life Clarence hadn’t even been on the other man’s radar. He had just been the awkward, shy kid who looked awful uncomfortable when Joe told his stories to the crew.

Clarence looked at the clock and froze as he heard Joe begin to wake up. The other man sat up slowly, his black hair mussed from sleep. It took him a few seconds to notice the time but when he did his dark eyes opened wide and he sprang to life.

What followed was an awkward exchange of Joe running to try and call Lola and Clarence having to convince him, again, to stay and help him with Aunt Susan. But during the whole exchange all Clarence could think about, which his choirboy upbringing made him blush at, was that Joe was there in his *underwear*, his legs and arms tanned and muscular and how his white teeth glinted in the afternoon light. And Clarence wanted desperately to be like him, to be as confident as Joe so he could tell him that he didn’t really want Aunt Susie.

What he really wanted, though he could barely comprehend it, was Joe.

But Clarence couldn’t find the courage, even though Joe had tried to teach him how to be a wolf.

And so the next few days passed like some strange fairytale. Susie miraculously got her audition and Joe miraculously got Susie, even after all they had put her through. Sometimes, after all, Joe’s smart mouth got him into trouble.

Clarence liked the pretty waitress, he really did. She was from Brooklyn after all and so was he. Easy to talk to, didn’t make him nervous like Susie but didn’t make his heart beat a hundred miles per hour like Joe.

When shore leave was over it was almost a relief because at least on the ship there were no dames to distract the other man.

It didn’t take long, after they got back, for Joe to start telling wildly exaggerated stories about their already pretty exciting (at least in Clarence’s book) adventures. Clarence sat beside him and watched those lips form words without actually listening to what was being said. Whatever it was seemed to impact well with the other men judging by the cheers and whistles.

Late at night, in his bunk, Clarence had been thinking about what Joe had told him about being a wolf, about learning to fearlessly pursue what he wanted. He had imagined (when the lights were out and such thoughts were safer in the dark) backing Joe into a wall, ignoring whatever words would spill out of his mouth and just pressing their lips together.

Clarence’s thoughts didn’t get much further than that. Waking up after the occasional dream of Joe’s hands on him, touching him like he would Lola, but rougher maybe, made him hide his face in his pillow and blush the next time Joe caught his eye.

These thoughts and dreams went on for weeks until Clarence was using almost any excuse to just touch Joe’s arm or shoulder or brush *accidentally* past him. But every time he built his confidence up, almost becoming the wolf, he would back down at the last moment, too afraid to look into the dark eyes and see rejection.

But then, at dinner one night, while pretending to peruse a worn copy of Great Expectations, he overheard two burly fellows making some snide comments about Joe. Some insinuations that, along with all the dames Joe had scored, there might have been some boys too.

Part of Clarence wanted to leap to his defence, say that ‘no’ Joe wasn’t like that. Another part of him was relighting his flame of hope and a few hours of thought later Clarence decided that Joe was worth risking rejection for.

Yes the other man could spiel lies like no other and he could be careless sometimes with other people’s feelings. But every time that full upper lip curled into a smile Clarence wanted to kiss it or bite it something fierce.

So a few days later when he found himself alone with Joe in the locker room Clarence became the wolf.

He approached Joe with a fearlessness that had never been present before in his blue eyes.

Brooklyn?” Joe questioned, his dark eyes, for once, a little wary.

“Joe,” Clarence managed to say, ignoring the part of him that wanted to run away. “Joe I never wanted Aunt Susie…”

“I know; you wanted that Brooklyn dame….she…”

Somehow he had backed Joe into the lockers and somehow, after taking a deep breath, he managed to press his lips to Joe’s. The other man didn’t respond but still…it felt so right.

“I wanted you,” he whispered almost shamefully as he pulled away, somehow mustering the confidence to look into those dark eyes.

And when he realised that was he saw there was an answering desire Clarence almost fainted in relief.

Joe answered him then, pressing their mouths together once more and licking at Clarence’s lower lip, asking permission. When their tongues met and slid together it was better than anything Clarence had experienced before. It was better than kissing Brooklyn, better than his dreams about what kissing Joe would be like.

He slid his hands up Joe’s back, feeling the muscles beneath the fabric, as Joe spun them around, almost slamming the younger man against the lockers.

Somehow Joe’s leg worked its way in between his thighs and then, when Joe pressed against him, Clarence gasped out loud, resting his head on the other man’s shoulder.

He knew it was wrong and fear of being caught made his movements frenzied, but Clarence couldn’t help grinding down and holding onto Joe like he never wanted to let go until at last stars exploded behind his eyelids.

When he collapsed, breathing heavily, against Joe’s body he realised that the other man was still hard. Watching Joe’s face he reached down with a trembling hand and pressed it over the bulge. Joe’s eyelids fluttered shut and it was his turn to gasp and groan at Clarence’s ministrations. He wasn’t quite sure what he was doing but for once, as he felt Joe jerk and stiffen against his palm, Clarence didn’t care.

When they had both calmed down Joe flashed *that* smile, only for him, and ruffled his hair lightly. But for once the black haired man didn’t have a word to say.

The other, slightly shorter, is SINGIN In the RAIN Cosmo/Don

i hope someone might like them :)

SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN

Cosmo/Dan

PG-R, lol

NOTES: Don’t own them…only own the DVD, which I love…

……………………………………………………………………………………………

Cosmo understands, probably better than anyone, what its like to be second best. He’s spent most of his life in Don’s shadow. Maybe not less talented, no, they’re about equal in talent, but perhaps a little less nice to look at. Slightly goofy looking you might say.

Don is the only person who ever *really* pays attention to him and even then, when some cute kid like Kathy comes along, he kind of fades into the painted scenery. But, for all he might joke about it, Cosmo doesn’t really mind.

He doesn’t mind being Don Lockwood’s shadow because at least then he gets to be with Don and that’s all that matters.

Once, after a wrap party, when they were alone in Don’s house and drunker than they usually allowed themselves to get. Cosmo bit the bullet and kissed the other man.

Don didn’t respond right away but Cosmo heard the hitch in his breath and saw the desire war with shock in the dark eyes.

Somehow, and Cosmo never quite understood how he did it, he convinced Don that it was okay, to lie back and just let it happen. Let Cosmo take control for once.

It was definitely a power trip, making handsome Don Lockwood, movie idol, moan and writhe beneath him. When Don’s hand found it’s way to Cosmo’s own erection, of its own accord no less, Cosmo kissed him roughly to keep from crying out and letting the other man know how much he had *really* wanted this.

They never spoke of it after the sun rose on the next morning and Cosmo wasn’t quite sure if Don even remembered but he didn’t mind. The memory of Don falling apart underneath him, of that cool veneer cracking, was enough to sustain him where he lived…in Don’s shadow.
