HELP ME! I can't make a damned LJ-Cut

So, I followed the instructions ppl kindly gave me, but I guess I'm still doing smth wrong. I go to the LJ Cut button, it gives me the option to name the cut, I copy and past my fic, and I end up with a cut AND the whole damned fic underneath it. As my mom would say if she finds out I'm writing stories abt hot sex between crooks: ''Where did I go wrong??''

You need to make sure you're in html and not auto-formatting when you post.

honestly I've been having problems with lj lately. It's been doing that a lot. It might not be you. Try starting with just the first word of the post and go down to the last word but not any spaces after. see if that helps.

Yeah, I've had to post, delete and repost a couple of times before getting the hang of it. As long as you get the story inside the blue box, and the words you typed into the "Read More..." section don't show up on preview, you've got it.

Other than that, It's LJ's fault.

Totally understandable about your mom. I refuse to explain to mine as well. She thinks I'm typing to friends online when instead it's all about the fic.

You need to copy your text directly into the grey (?) cut field. Try making the cut field bigger by using the space key.

Or try changing to html (right upper corner of your text field) and use [lj-cut text="read more"] (your text)[/lj-cut].
Change [ ] to < >.

I'm bad at explaining. Sorry.
