Jul. 24th, 2003 03:46 amer.. I'm generally a lurker so this being the first post, I think, I'm kinda nervous but seeing as I don't know anyone who's even written a fanfic on the book "Die Uurwerk Kantel" much less slash I thought I'd put this one I wrote a while ago here. It is in English even though the book wasn't and it's a femmeslash pairing. Um... I actually wonder how many people are actually keeping track of this community. >>;
Elise's husband, Charles Hopwood, is an Englishman and a commander in the Royal Navy who has gone back to England, leaving his Afrikaans wife Elise back in South Africa with his younger sister Cecily. Cecily is completely devoted to Elise but Elise only wants her for her husband to come back and grows weary of Cecily's constant company. Elise gets an opportunity to go to England on tour and turns down Cecily's offer of going with her.
Cecily had locked herself in the bathroom. She wiped the backs of her hands over her eyes, holding in her tears. She tried taking in a couple of calming breaths until her breathing steadied and she no longer felt the need to breakdown in tears. She chided herself for being too soft and told herself she had been overly presumptuous, after all, Elise had never said anything about letting her come with her on the tour. Cecily hiccoughed softly. If she wants to go by herself then I suppose I shall have to stay here. She nodded, besides, the Stonehenge really was just an old pile of rocks anyways. She made her way out of the bathroom and soon joined a heated political debate, as always she supported Smuts.
Elise spotted Cecily and made her her way over. After the talking to she had been given after what she had said to Cecily, she realized exactly how mean she had been. "I didn't mean to." she muttered to herself. She just didn't understand why Cecily had to be with her at all times, not that she didn't mostly enjoy the company because she did but they weren't even sister-in-laws anymore. Yes, Cecily had promised her brother to look after her for him but the girl was no longer under that obligation. She was only nineteen years old, surely she had better things to do than hang around her brother's ex-wife. It occurred to her that in her married life she had still spent more time with Cecily than her husband. She laughed to herself, 'It is as though I married the wrong Hopwood'. She froze and realized that was exactly it, it had been almost as though it were her and Cecily that had been married and not her and Charles. It was Cecily that she came home to everyday and Cecily who greeted her cheerily every morning and wasn't it Cecily's face too which brightened everytime she saw Elise? Elise joined the conversation distractedly and stayed long enough to drop a few comments before excusing herself and pulling Cecily away with her. Cecily had seemed to have recovered from being upset from what she had said to her earlier.
"Oh poor Mrs Smuts! I cannot imaging how she must feel now. She and Mr Smuts have done so much for the country and now-"
Elise cut her off. She glanced around to see if anyone had followed them into the kitchen where she had taken Cecily to talk, they were quite alone. "Cecily, I must have a word."
Cecily looked at her questioningly and nodded.
"Ah.. about earlier, about the tour? I-"
"Oh, you don't have to say anything, I quite understand that you want to go alone. I'm sure I'll be quite alright here and someone has to take care of the house.."
"No! I mean I changed my mind, Cecily. I was being utterly horrible to you. You've stayed with me so long and I treat you like that, I want you to come with me and... and I've realized something else."
Cecily smiled excitedly, "You want me to come?" She threw her arms tightly around Elise and hugged her close, "Oh, oh, you've made me so happy." Then she looks up at Elise, "Wait.. what is it that you've realized?"
"I've realized, I think, why you have always been around me and how come you've stayed with me so long despite my not appreciating you as much as I should."
Cecily blushed, "I.. I admire you. You're wonderfully smart and in spite of what you think you haven't treated me badly at all."
"No. No, I don't think that's quite it." Elise suddenly seemed quite serious, "Tell me the truth, Cecily."
Cecily's face lost it's blush and paled, "I... I don't know what you're saying." She pulled her arms back from the hug and started to back away but Elise grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"I should have married you, shouldn't I?" She crushed her lips against the younger girl's and pulled her even closer, relishing the contact of their soft bodies. She bit lightly on unresisting lips and savoured the entire surrender of yielding mouth until air became an issue and she pulled away. "You love me." She said breathily.
Cecily leaned against the taller woman, head resting against her chest. "Yes." She replied softly.

Date: 2003-07-25 06:57 pm (UTC)Well, looks like nine, at the moment. ;) I'm delighted to find someone actually posting here, though, a rare slash community is such a great idea!
I'm kinda nervous but seeing as I don't know anyone who's even written a fanfic on the book "Die Uurwerk Kantel" much less slash I thought I'd put this one I wrote a while ago here.
This was quite lovely, though I'm sad that I'll likely never be able to read the book and find out the context for the characters...
