I used to have a sound byte of Yul Brynner as Vin saying, "We lost. We always lose."

I saw this in the movies when it first came out, and being just a child, a mere infant, if you will, *cough* I never saw the slash, just the very close friendship.

I do need to go back and watch it again. :-)
